A RARE CASED .44 (THUER) & .44 PERCUSSION SIX-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL '1860 ARMY THUER CONVERSION', serial no. 184220,
originally manufactured in 1869 and converted at a similar time, with round 8in. barrel signed 'ADDRESS COL SAML COLT', the remainder obscured beneath a barrel mounted adjustable buckhorn style sight appearing factory fitted, blade fore-sight, stepped front-loading cylinder with roll engraved scene, Thuer patent turning ring to rear of cylinder positionable for unloading or firing, colour-hardened open frame marked 'COLTS PATENT', colour-hardened hammer, blued iron back-strap with brass front-strap and trigger-guard, smooth walnut one-piece grip and articulated under-barrel loading lever, bluing to the barrel re-touched but retaining much colour and finish; TOGETHER WITH its mahogany brass cornered storage case, compartmented and lined in dark red velvet and containing a percussion cylinder (appearing unused), an 'L' shaped nipple-key, a cap-tin and a steel Colt's Patent double cavity mould, all remaining in fine condition
